Social Programmes and Excursions

As much to do and to see when you stay with Country Cousins

Activities for all students

Country Cousins offers a wide range of morning, afternoon and evening activities. Our courses are specially designed to improve not just a student’s general level of English, but also their specialised knowledge relating to their programme.

In the following list of programmes we ensure students receive specialist vocabulary and language learning specific to their course choice.

You can check out our Price List to see the dates each programme is running, and you can always contact our office staff if you are unsure. They are here to help.

What to Expect

Every Monday we welcome new students. There is always a social evening to give new arrivals a chance to get to know each other and to meet other students already at the school.

This evening activity will probably be one of the following, and students will have the opportunity to experience several of these during their stay:

  • School Disco
  • Karaoke
  • Sports Tournament
  • BBQ and Tennis
  • Talent Show
  • Movie Night
  • Games Night

Discovering Devon

During the week students who have chosen the Discovering Devon trip will go on 3 half day trips a week. Half day trips usually involve one of the following activities:

  • Arlington Court National Trust House
  • Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon
  • Beach games at Woolacombe beach
  • Bowling
  • Coastal walk from Mortehoe to Woolacombe beach
  • Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park

Full Day Trips

All students will go on one full day trip a week. Day trips are alternated in theme each week, so if students attend a cultural walk or attraction in Week 1, they are likely to attend a city or historical town attraction in Week 2. This ensures students not only benefit from the local culture and learn about the area, but it also gives them the opportunity to visit British shops to get souvenirs and gifts for their families and friends. Day trips are usually one of the following:
