IATEFL 2018 (aka Alicja’s Tour of Brighton)

Here at Country Cousins we strive to ensure that we teach our students using the latest techniques and to the very highest professional standards.

To achieve this we recognise the importance of investing in the ongoing development of our highly professional teaching staff.

So earlier this month Alicja, our Director of Studies, not only attended but, presented at the 2018 International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) Conference.

The conference hosted 3,000 English Language Teaching Professionals from over 100 countries over 4 days and included over 500 talks, workshops and symposiums.

To see what Alicja got up to read on…

Despite being hampered by an initial delay, Alicja settled down on her 6 hour journey from Ilfracombe to Brighton. At least she didn’t have as far to travel as some of the other attendees!

The length of the journey did have some benefits as she got to view the extensive conference programme using the IATEFL App whilst putting the finishing touches to her own presentation.

Alicja finally arrived at the conference (with time for an obligatory selfie!) was issued with her pass and settled down with the gathered attendees for a day packed with lectures, talks, demonstrations and exhibitions. Will all this going on she still managed to find the time to look after the Country Cousins team with some gifts of Brighton Rock.

Alicja was keen to build upon the current use of modern technologies at the school. At least two of those technologies covered at the conference, an online game exploring social issues and a new language app, are highly likely to feature in the Summer 2018 syllabus at Country Cousins.  Alicja’s own presentation was also very well received by a packed and appreciative audience. We are also very proud of her here at County Cousins.

Alicja, the team here at Country Cousins and ultimately our students will benefit from the shared knowledge, advice and information gathered at this year’s IATEFL conference and exhibition.

We would like to thank everyone who arranged this year’s conference and we will see you next year for the 53rd  IATEFL (aka Alicja’s Tour of Liverpool)
